Having originally made a name for himself on the live circuit as a topical comic, in recent years James has incorporated a number of self-penned, original comic songs into his act. Although this involves lugging a keyboard around with him, it's worth it - songs about grammatical inaccuracies and failed nightclub courtships have had audiences literally crying with laughter. Two parts misanthrope, one part buffoon, James' persona is that of an old-school BBC presenter, with his middle class accent, tuxedo and masterful use of the English language.
A firmly established favourite on the London comedy circuit. An evening of original, laugh-out-loud comedy.
That was the fourth time I've been to a Funny Side show and they've always been brilliant. I love the relaxed friendly atmosphere. I don't come to London very often but whenever I do, a visit to The Funny Side is always top of my agenda.
