MORE INFO...

What is impro/improv?
"Impro" or "improv" is acting without a script. But it is also generating an idea, or a story, or a scene from nothing. Such as on TV's "Who's Line Is It Anyway". Actors use impro skills to get into character; a means to an end. We use impro as an end product - the creation of a new idea or a new performance. It is also a good way to build confidence in yourself and your ideas since it is about generating ideas and creating stories with another person or group of people. So communication skills are improved through impro. And impro is a skill that anyone can learn.

Who is this course aimed at?
Complete beginners - interested in acting.
Complete beginners - wishing to improve their communication skills and confidence.
Actors & Performers new to impro
Improvisers who wish to refresh their existing skills.

Who are our teachers?
There will be TWO tutors - both regular performers and experienced teachers who are used to teaching everyone from students at Drama school, to computer designers at a corporate event. The group is limited to 16 so there is always someone to help if needed.

Tell me about the course...
You'll learn the rules that make impro work and do exercises to develop skills core to impro - spontaneity - creativity, - listening, - and teamwork (impro is not a solo activity).

Our "Intro to Impro" course is 100% practical - the only way to learn it is to do it. So you'll be on your feet "doing" nearly all the time - in pairs, and in small groups.

We learn that "failure" does not exist - only more or less successful ways of doing things. Finally - impro is fun! The days run from 11am until 5.30pm. (There will be breaks for tea/coffee.)
