Acts @ The Funny Side :
Grant Westbrook
Accomplished improviser and actor Grant Westbrook has been resident MC at The Funny Side since we opened in 2006.
"Grant Westbrook is slick" The Scotsman
"In ten minutes flat, he had the crowd laughing,
the potential hecklers sussed and sorted and the subdued office party on
the front row warmed up and ready to roll with the first act. It is not
often that an audience is sorry to see the compere leave the stage, but
after ten minutes of Westbrook, we were disappointed to find that he was
not, in fact, the first act himself." British Theatre Guide
"an excellent compere, who helps the audience shrug off their
inhibitions and really get into the humour" ViewLondon
Having been abandoned as a baby, Grant was raised by wild dogs on the
desolate plains of Nordfjorddeid in Norway. He soon learnt, if he
wanted to make it through the night, without being ripped limb from
limb, he'd have to make those puppies laugh. It took some time, but oh
how they laughed!
He was discovered by Fisherman and Comedy Impressario Ragner Lorentzen
some 28 years later. Ragner later remarked "To make people laugh is ok
to make the doggies laugh - wow that is really something." It was
Ragner that launched him into the big time with a summer season at his
own self-titled "Ragners Palace of Laughter." The rest as they say is
history. Grant has been wowing audiences ever since. True Story....
Next appearance at The Funny Side:
Grant Westbrook is one of our resident comperes.
